Biography

I am a community-based researcher actively involved in environmental and cultural conservation; among the projects includes “Potehi Glove Puppet Theatre of Penang”, dugong conservation, “Mangrove: Rediscover + Reconnect”. I am also a senior environmental educator for a local environmental NGO. Currently, I am a PhD candidate from Universiti Sains Malaysia, focusing on rural tourism development at one of the fishing villages in Malaysia. I believe that inclusive community engagement is vital to understand community’s’ needs, achieve social equality, cultural-inheritance, transformative change and to improve the livability of communities.
